Introduction
Microsoft Teams is introducing Remind Me, a reminder option for chat and channel messages, with the announcement MC1470887 (roadmap item 565869). The Targeted Release rollout begins in early October 2026, with general availability expected shortly after, within the same month.
What Remind Me does
The Remind Me option appears in a message’s action menu, in both chats and channels. Two quick timeframes are offered : later today, which pushes the reminder out by about two hours, and tomorrow, which sets it at 9am the next day. Teams doesn’t take Outlook working hours into account when calculating these timeframes.
Once a reminder is set, a small clock icon appears next to the message ; hovering over it shows the due time.
The Reminders view
Teams clients expose a new Reminders view in the Quick Views list, where the user can see, edit, or remove reminders, and can reply directly to the message from that view. Depending on the client’s configuration, chat and channel reminders appear in a combined view or in two separate views.
The Reminders view stays visible by default, but can be configured to only appear once a reminder is due. When a reminder comes due, Teams increments the view’s count and sends a toast notification.

Conclusion
Remind Me fills a gap that had long been surprisingly absent from Teams : until now, flagging a message to come back to it later meant workarounds, a manually created To Do item, a saved message, or self-chat. Without being a task management tool, this feature recognizes a real use case that was already widely practiced other ways.
